Parent Education and School Readiness Programs

Due to Contra Costa Public Health Department COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions,  Mt. Diablo Adult Education/Loma Vista Adult Center is currently closed. We anticipate reopening classes Monday, May 4th. However, given the ongoing changes, we highly encourage you to check the district website at www.mdusd.org for updates.

Parent Reading to KidsThe Parent Education Program provides families with the tools for positive family communication, an understanding of the value of the parent/child relationship skills for improving and family/school relationships and interaction. The program also provides opportunities to learn about the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of children at varying stages of life.

Class Fees

  • All Parent Education classes are free for families living in MDUSD boundaries
    • Two forms of proof of residency* in MDUSD boundaries are required
  • For families residing outside the Mt. Diablo Unified School District, the following fees are due at time of registration.

Current picture ID of parent/guardian:

  • Driver’s license
  • State issued ID
  • Passport
  • Consulate issued picture ID
  • Voter credential
  • Military ID
One of the following:
  • Current valid vehicle registration
  • State or federal tax return filed within the last 12 months with W-2 form(s) attached
  • Current voter registration receipt
  • Other forms of identification or communication from a government agency
  • Property tax bill
  • Lease/rental agreement (including property address, names of occupants, name and phone number of owner/manager)
  • Payroll stubs/checks
No utility or cable bills accepted

Register in person for Parent Education classes in our Parent Education Office:

1266 San Carlos Avenue, Concord, CA 94518 - room AD-1 unless otherwise noted in the course description.

2020-2021 In-Person Registration for School Readiness Program begins May 18, 2020
for Loma Vista & Hidden Valley classes only.
