Mt. Diablo Adult Education offers job readiness and career search workshops and resources on campus, through a unique partnership with Contra Costa County and nine local organizations. Following are some of the services that are available at no cost to students and other participants at the Loma Vista Adult Center:

Computers, printers, copier and scanner available for job search
Access to CalJOBS, the state’s best online resource for job seekers
Career Assessments, matching interests and skills to career opportunities
Typing certification tests
Training and education information

Using AI to Research Jobs and Companies

This workshop covers how to identify the best jobs to apply for based on your skills, gather key company information – such as mission statements, values, and workplace culture – and connect that information to your work experience for a stronger job application. Designed for those with basic computer skills, this session will help you navigate the job market with confidence.

Find out how to apply for a Pell grant using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). A Pell grant is free money and not a loan, meaning eligible students don’t have to pay it back! Workshop covers eligibility basics and what information you will need when filling out the application.

Drop-In for Job Search

Drop in to the Career Center for job search activities, including resume review, keyboarding certification tests, internet job search, and career assessments.
Keyboarding Certification Test See monthly MDAE-AJCC Career Center calendar for dates and times.
Take a timed test in order to earn a certificate that will demonstrate your keyboarding speed and accuracy to potential employers. You will be able to take one or more 1-minute keyboarding warm-ups before taking up to two 5-minute timed tests. Be sure to bring a picture ID such as a California Driver’s License/ID with you.

Metrix is an online learning system designed to help individuals upgrade existing skills or learn new ones. In addition to training, numerous resources for career exploration and skill assessment are included. Metrix offers access to a wide range of courses and career pathways in a user-friendly, self-paced platform. There is no cost for a one-year license when signing up through Mt. Diablo Adult Education’s AJCC Career Center. Printable certificates are available upon successful competition of online course requirements.
Note: There are no fees for any of the workshops or services provided by the MDAE AJCC Career Center.
